Philly Zoo Visit, February 5, 2008

We visited the zoo at around noon - it was an unseasonably warm day, about 50 degrees. None of the elephants were out. So, even if the elephants were released from their cement stalls after we left, the most they were outside today was four hours...which means they are spending a *minimum* of 20 hours a day standing around on hard cement floors. What a sad, sad life for these elephants who were taken from their families in Africa as babies.
