Bette is one of the three remaining African elephants sharing the cramped and barren 1940's era exhibit. She could have moved to the Performing Animal Welfare Society sanctuary last year - home to 11 former circus and zoo elephants - but the Philly Zoo plans instead to send her and Kallie and Petal to a breeding facility near Pittsburgh.
